Bed Bug Service Treatments
Methods of Control
As pest management professionals, there are multiple methods of control that are available to detect large-scale bed bug infestations. Fortunately, Northwest Exterminating has been integrating these pest management approaches (of which include vacuuming, steaming, and the use of mattress and box spring encasements and heat treatments) since 2005.
Thermal Remediation® Treatment
Tested and proven, Thermal Remediation® services are considered to be the fastest, most effective method for bed bug removal. Raising the temperature in a room to above 122 degrees exterminates the live bed bugs and the hard to eliminate bed bug eggs using dry heat while reducing the application of insecticides. Northwest Exterminating’s Sleeptight Thermal Remediation® Heat Treatment is a discrete environmentally friendly service approach guaranteed to be effective.
Phase One: A Northwest Preparation Agreement is given to customers to help prepare the home or business for a successful service.
Phase Two: The technician will set up bed bug heaters, fans and wireless sensors throughout the treatment space. From a remote location, real time monitoring will be conducted to confirm the lethal temperatures are being hit. Target points are also treated with a residual insecticide.
Phase Three: A monitoring program is then established to ensure a successful treatment is achieved and declared Sleeptight Certified Clear.

Conventional Treatment
The conventional treatment, written in detail, addresses specific phases on how control of bed bugs is properly performed.Phase One: A Northwest Preparation Agreement is given to customers to help prepare the home or business for a successful service.
Phase Two: A methodical, thorough treatment is conducted treating infested areas and potential harborages with current research, proven products, and hot steam in target points
Phase Three: A monitoring program is then established to ensure a successful treatment is achieved. The Sleeptight Clear Report will be issued once the premises are declared bed bug free.
Many times, in a desperate attempt to eliminate bed bugs, people will often turn to home remedies that could potentially be fatal. Ineffective practices that are illegal and harmful to an individual’s health include the following:- Flammable liquids
- Bleach or other household cleaners
- Sevin dust
- Arsenic dust
- Dursban dust
- Boric acid dust
- Oils and soaps used on furniture
